PWC & Speed Operation

  • A PWC is a very fast machine capable of doing 130 km/hr producing up to 300hp in a vessel that weighs only 350kgs therefore producing phenomenal power and acceleration.
  • A PWC traveling at 60kph covers 100 metres in 6 seconds, of this 6 seconds - 2 seconds is reaction time if a maneuvering decision has to be made.
  • Always maintain situational awareness when operating your PWC as you DO NOT HAVE MUCH TIME to make maneuvering decisions at high speed.
  • Always consider visibility, traffic density and navigational hazards in the area when choosing a safe speed to travel.
  • Keep as near as practicable to the starboard side when operating your PWC in a narrow channel
  • Always keep a proper lookout and look over your shoulder before making a turn in any direction, LOOK ASTERN BEFORE YOU TURN!
