Person Overboard

Perform a Williamson Turn:

• Shoulder check and turn the boat the same side as the person fell overboard (to avoid propeller strike)
• Shout aloud “Man Overboard Port or Starboard side”
• Keep the person overboard in sight
• When 60 degrees off original heading straighten up the helm 
• Shoulder check and turn the opposite direction heading on a reciprocal course back towards the person in the water
• Slow boat and place gearbox in neutral before retrieving the person back onboard safely
