Stand on vessel

• The vessel that has right of way should STAND ON
• They should maintain their course and speed, keep a lookout and be prepared to take evasive action.
• Should the GIVE WAY vessel not give way the master of the STAND ON vessel must take the appropriate action to avoid a collision. In a head-on situation and crossing situation these include:
  • changing direction to the starboard (right)
  • slowing, stopping or reversing
