Marine Incident Reporting

As master of a vessel involved in a Marine Incident you must:

  • Stop, render first aid assistance to any injured persons involved
  • Assist in getting boats and occupants to a place of safety & exchange details between masters
  • Verbally report the incident (marine radio or phone) to a Shipping Inspector (Water Police,
    Boating & Fisheries or Marine Safety Officer) A.S.A.P. WITHIN 48 HOURS
  • Then submit a written Marine Incident Report (available on MSQ website: www.msq.qld.gov.au, Department of Transport and Main Roads customer service centres, Police stations or Maritime Safety Queensland bases) to Maritime Safety Queensland
